Back in 2018, Josh Bersin, HR, talent and learning industry analyst was talking about the rising popularity of the learning experience platform.
LXP: an online adaptive learning system that works with algorithms to direct the learner and delivers customised resources and activities that fit individual learner needs.
When defining the LXP as a set of capabilities, rather than products, Josh states that,

Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland wanted to create a best-in-class extended-enterprise learning platform, targeted at retailer and operator staff (Three, Vodafone etc), selling Samsung products. Samsung adopted a fully responsive Open source Totara LMS to provide clear learning results. An integrated approach across email, Facebook, Twitter and the learning platform, informs and encourages learners about new content. Learners are also rewarded for completing learning by unlocked competitions upon achieving a specified grade in the assessment/quiz.
